Each year Radio Ink's Convergence works to bring the very best minds together, to help stretch your mind. This year at Convergence, one of the greatest minds in Silicon Valley will share his thoughts on the future, what all businesses need to be focused on, and how you can thrive in the Internet economy.
No one knows it all better than Tim Draper, a brilliant visionary and the venture capitalist behind many of the top brands you know today. Draper has a powerful view of the future that he's helped create, and as a VC, he's been pitched to invest in new technologies you've not (yet) even heard of. Tim brings a fascinating view of the real world behind tech and behind success, and he'll offer his thoughts on what radio and traditional media must do to thrive in this world. His talk will be one of the most memorable moments in Convergence history.
Tim Draper is known as the inventor of viral marketing: His idea to use "viral" techniques in Web-based e-mail to geometrically spread an Internet product to its market was instrumental in the success of Hotmail and Yahoo Mail, and has been adopted as a standard marketing technique by hundreds of businesses.
Draper invested in and contributed to the development of Skype, Baidu, Overture (acquired by Yahoo), Parametic Technolohu, Hotmail, Tumbleweed Communications, PLX Technologies, Digidesign (acquired by Avid), Preview Travel (acquired by Travelocity), Four11 (acquired by Yahoo), Combinet (acquired by Cisco), and Redgate (acquired by AOL).
Draper launched the DFJ Global Network, an international network of venture capital funds with offices in more than 30 cities around the globe, and founded or co-founded Wasatch Ventures (Salt Lake City), Zone Ventures (L.A.), Draper Atlantic (Reston), Draper Triangle (Pittsburgh), Timberline Ventures (Woodland, WA), DFJ EPlanet (global), Polaris Fund (Anchorage), Draper Fisher Jurvetson Gotham (NYC), DFJ Frontier (Sacramento and Santa Barbara), and DFJ Dragon (Shanghai). He's featured as a keynote speaker in entrepreneurial conferences worldwide.
Tim Draper is also founder and Chair Emeritus for the BizWorld Foundation, which develops programs that teach children about business, entrepreneurship, and finance in the U.S. and around the world. He served on the California State Board of Education in 1998-99, and launched a statewide cyber-initiative on school choice for the November 2000 California General Election.
And if you have kids, you'll know Draper is a recurring star in The Naked Brothers Band TV series on Nickelodeon.Tim Draper is one of the most sought-after players in Silicon Valley, and having him speak is a huge coup for Convergence. This is a presentation you won't want to miss.
